I've never tipped a hairdresser. I only really tip in restaurants. I find tips such a weird concept; no one tips me for doing my job. Doctors, nurses, teachers, builders, opticians, supermarket workers, police etc etc, don't get tipped. Why is it expected in certain sectors?
I don’t tip throughout the year but I do give a little gift at Christmas. My hairdresser is now a friend. She uses me in my trade and she doesn’t tip me nor give a gift. Just do as you feel comfortable with. Since having a baby I don’t have the spare cash to be as generous with
I’m a nail tech just outside Edinburgh and all my prices reflect my work so I never expect a tip for my work 😊 if people tip me it’s usually about 2/3 or round it up to the nearest whole number but even the hair dressers who work along side me are the same it’s not expected x
I don’t tip hairdressers. They charge a lot, which is fair given the time and skill, but I don’t think a tip on top is expected.
I saw someone ask this on a Facebook group. Basically a lot of hairdressers said they don’t expect a tip. So I would just do what you feel is comfortable if you want to tip then tip what you feel is appropriate and you can afford but there is zero expectation to do so. Not sure where you are from but tipping isn’t as much of thing in scotland as it is in the likes of USA.
