@Sophie I think it’s just every other letter from the end backwards? If that makes any sense I think it was people looking for an alternative nickname! 😂 PaTrIcK 🤷♀️ x
I knew a Patrick who went by PJ, as his middle name started with a J. Not sure if that could be a consideration. I've also heard Patch.
Do you plan to mostly call him Kit? Is Patrick just for his birth certificate? I like Kit and you can use any name as a nickname but I don’t think it’s anything like Patrick! I call my daughter loads of nicknames though, only a couple that are anything to do with her actual name! I think nicknames just happen naturally most of the time. I’ve known a few Patrick’s and they been Pat/Paddy/Patty.
@Jenna oh I think Patch is cute! I could only think of Rick/Ricky!
i knew someone named Patrick whose nickname was Patch, which i always liked! Paddy or Pads is cute, and i also like Trick/Tricks/Trix as a nickname. and i do think Kit works as a nickname too - a little less of an obvious choice but there is still a clear link to the name Patrick! other ideas: Pax Ike Atty Ricco 💙
I think Pat or Rick are the best options overall.
What about Rick? I don’t dislike Pat though
I’ve named my son Patrick for the exact same reason (after husband’s grandad) and I also hate pat and paddy. His middle name is James so I’ve thought about PJ but my brother keeps saying I can’t call him after pyjamas 🙈 I like pads, I think that’s cute, or Pax. Kit definitely works, I don’t think it needs to have a connection though. I call my little man Beetle most of the time 😂
Personally I would use Kit as an entirely separate name. I’m not seeing the link between the two but perhaps if it was broken down/explained to me I would x
