Grandma Names

So my mom STILL cannot figure out what she wants the baby to call her. Lol she’s a little extra but I’m 7months now so I’m trying to help her decide on something. She’s a younger grandma so she doesn’t want to sound too old (she’s 45). She won’t do Nona (even though we’re Italian and this one makes the most sense to me) because we have a close family friend who’s also a young grandpa that we all call Nona and she won’t do ouma either (cultural as my husband is South African) she originally liked the name Lolly but then someone she knows used it and she didn’t want to 😂🤦🏼‍♀️ oh my gosh she’s picky. so I’m just seeing if anyone one here had any creative suggestions that I could pitch to her 🤷🏼‍♀️😂❤️

My moms Lolli and my dads pop for my sisters kids and so that’s what my daughters going to call them. I’m 21 weeks pregnant

Ma ( this is what my little one calls my mum - who is also South African ) or what about nanna (what my little one calls my partners mum) they are both a similar age to your mum x

@Analee this was the original name she picked out! It’s so cute. She just changed her mind bc someone she knew on Facebook posted that they were doing it too🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

If I've learned anything by watching everyone else's kids growing up, kids will call grandparents whatever they feel comfortable with calling them, I don't really think it's up to us to pick a name... I'm currently 25 weeks pregnant and my mum talks to my bump and says things like "how's Nana's boy?" But I'm sure he'll grow up calling her whatever he wants to

@Zara P right that’s what I’m sayin 😂

My mother says she'll let the baby (now 5 months) decide what to call her. Could always try that, if she can't decide!

Meemaw

Mine is GiGi

And my mom is 43 lol so she said GiGi isn’t too “old” sounding

I've heard mimi, and gigi. So thankful my mom wanted to be called grandma and I didn't have to go through all this.

My mom was Gammy, and my MIL is Granna. My grandmas were Mee-Maw and Mamaw (pronounced MEH-maw, in case you can't tell, lol). I've also met a Glamma, a Gigi, and even one who just goes by G. I have a cousin whose middle name is Jo, and she goes by JoJo. I know a Lolly and a Lala, too. And on the slightly crazier side, there's also Sugar Mama and Cookie. 😅

She could call her Lovey or Honey kinda along the same lines as Lolly

Mimi is what my sister’s grandma on her dad’s side is called. Tutu is Hawaiian and a cute alternative to GiGi

My mum went with momo
