Is it safe to take my baby in the pool?

I've always loved swimming but now I have a 3 month old. I've seen baby floaties but don't know if they're safe or trustworthy for my sweet boy. Does anyone know?

I wouldn’t pools can be dirty and ur bb skin is sensitive rn

Fine to go swimming :) just make sure you research the floaty first before purchasing

I always just held mine when we went swimming

It is perfectly safe to take you baby swimming. Just be prepared to be getting out after 10-15 mins. I was seriously surprised that my son lasted 30 his first time (10 weeks) I would hold off on the floaties for now. We didn't get a pfd for our son until he was 8 months. Stay away from anything inflatable until they are able to swim on their own. I've had to rescue too many infants from their floaties that werent inflated properly, blew over because of wind or were punctured. If you have any questions message me. I've been working in Aquatics for 18 years

I took my oldest from 7 or 8 weeks old. Never put him in a floaty you should keep hold of them at all times when theyre this small. He could swim before he was 1 x

I took my little one when he was 2 months-asked the pediatrician and she said it was fine but to keep his head above water. We held him the whole time but it was fun. You just need to make sure they don’t get too cold. Babies can’t regulate temperature as easily and get cold quicker. Make sure skin isn’t turning purple. We rinsed him off in the shower before leaving to get anything off of him.

I think it’s fine! I would just hold them opposed to floaters if he’s only 3 months, as I wouldn’t put mine in anything until they would at least sit up by themselves.

We’ve taken our LG to swim classes from 8 weeks. She loves it! We hold her the whole time. Look for fleece lined swimsuits or neoprene wraps over a normal swimsuit to keep baby warm if the pool isn’t specially for babies :) and enjoy!

I'm taking mine to lessons from 9 weeks (waiting til after immunisations personally but not necessary). No floats, just holding and getting them used to the water. I plan on taking her non-lesson swimming in the summer once she's more happy in the water.

It's totally safe to take your baby to swim, the earlier they are introduced, the less fear they will have in the long run. Do not use floaties, just hold your baby with your arms. FDA has issued warnings against using neck floats.

I have, but I have my own small pool.. I would trust a public pool just yet

You don’t need a floatie at this age. I’d just hold baby. Where I live we have infant swim safety classes beginning at 4 months- parent comes with the baby to help them learn to float in case of falling in water. It’s pretty standard for those classes to begin at 4 months. Enjoy! Most babies love water!

You don't need a floatie, you can hold baby. I've been taking my baby swimming since 4 months old, and a friend of mine has been taking baby swimming since 5 weeks old. No floaties just holding. Definitely just make sure the pool is newborn safe... ie the chemicals are at a safe level and of a slightly warmer level to the colder pools and its generally clean.

Yes it’s absolutely fine. They can start swimming lessons before 3 months so it’s absolutely fine to take them.

Hey you, 3 months is the perfect age. I love this floatie, it lasts until they are 2 years old. Always keep an eye on them as with anything. Mambobaby Float Add Tail Newest... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BNHVG67J?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Wow advice is so different in different countries! Its fascinating. I am in Australia and here the local council funds free swimming lessons for 3-6mth old babies to kickstart learning water safety. Both my boys went in the pool and did swimming lessons from about 4mths old. Always in my arms I didn’t use any floaties. They won’t last long so 20mins max. They also feel the cold a lot more so only put them in if it’s nice warm body temp water.

I used a kids sized life jacket from 3yo (ie a proper life jacket like you’d wear boating or jet skiing)

I hold my baby in the pool.
