When did people get dye stealer?

According to my LMP I’m 4 weeks and 6 days (according to my peak I’m probably more like 4 weeks 4 days). When did people get a dye stealer? I can’t remember from my first. Digital went from 1-2 weeks to 2-3 weeks on Monday. I found out on a clear blue a week today x

I’m 5wks 1day, my tests got to a certain darkness and haven’t progressed since. I think some test brands just never get dye stealers. As long as it stays dark and isn’t getting lighter I don’t think you have much to worry about, maybe try another brand? I’m going to get a clear blue tomorrow as I know they get dye stealers. 💖

I understand the obsession with tests and have done this too but they can’t tell you anymore than whether you are pregnant or not. Not everyone gets dye stealers and can depend on the test etc. and you can put yourself through a lot of stress and cost when it doesn’t change anything - you are pregnant. You also risk getting a hook effect.

It’s just because I’ve had a missed miscarriage before my daughter and they stated getting lighter and the weeks didn’t change as they should etc so I know from my daughter I feel better upto the first few weeks with the weeks thing so I’ll test Monday and then I won’t Test again x

@Katie really sorry to hear about your loss. It really takes away the joy of pregnancy. I had 2 losses before my daughter and one was also a missed miscarriage. The first the tests did get lighter and so the second pregnancy I took like 15+ tests and everything was darker and looked great, had a scan and ok and then the next scan was a missed miscarriage. I was still testing pregnant a couple of weeks after surgery too. So although these early weeks are hard, I realised tests had little meaning and for my last pregnancy, I took like 3 tests and had 2 early scans. I’ve taken 3 tests so far and will probably do one more between now and a scan, even though I know it’s pointless but anything to help you through. Just know if you don’t get a dye stealer, it doesn’t mean anything is in jeopardy. Wishing you all the best for this pregnancy 🙏

I know I'm over testing but we've done IVF and every little thing terrifies me. I'd never heard the term dye stealer but I looked it up and my first one was at 5 weeks 6 days, now at 6 weeks and 6 days and the couple I've done since then have been dye stealers too

What is a dye stealer 😅? What does this all mean?

@Alex when you have high enough HCG that it steals the dye from the other line ..so instead of the test line being light it's darker than the control line ..I only got them on clearblue or first response tests ..

Thanks Holly and what does that indicate?

@Alex as your pregnancy progresses, hcg doubles every 48ish hours. So the thought behind a dye stealer is that your hcg has risen so high it now steals dye from the control line which is usually the darker line or both the same. It’s similar to the weeks clearblue tests and people want a 3+ as it indicates a higher hcg. But honestly please don’t go chasing dye stealers. It’s brand dependant and plenty of women don’t keep testing (so costly) or ever get them and their pregnancy is all fine. It actually isn’t a reliable indication of the pregnancy. I’ve had high hcg levels but still had a missed miscarriage. I’ve also had a successful pregnancy and only took 3 tests at the start. You don’t need to keep testing or get a dye stealer. Can cause so much anxiety. The next step is a scan.

@Lauren this is incredibly helpful thank you so much for sharing your story too. I really appreciate it ❤️
