Bad breath in newborn

Im a FTM n my LO is 2weeks old and 3days, starting this morning her breath has a bitter or just a bad smell to it. I feed her 2-3 oz every 2 -3hrs n I use the momcozy cotton gum sticks to clean her tongue. Does anyone know the cause or a solution? (She spits up sometimes and keep it in her cheek, I usually try to get it out but could that be the cause?)

Does she have reflux? My little boy has silent reflux and sometimes has a vinegar/youghurty type smell to his breath

@Amy yeah I think she does, she often spits up after feeds. Or get hiccups, I try to keep her upright n burp her for 20-30 mins a but she’s usually still unsettled. Does that counts for reflux?

I can only go by my little boy. Before being on the right medication he would refuse bottles, literally squirm whilst feeding and then at times inconsolable after feeding. He has a dry cough, hiccups, sometimes gags and congested however these two have certainly got much better. Then of course the smell of his breath

@Amy should I take her to the pediatrician? Or change her formula? I’ve been telling her doctor abt the constant spit ups but she just says it’s normal just to feed her smaller quantities more frequently but that doesn’t help much. I currently use the similac formula.

Are you UK or US ? I’m UK and the gps were absolutely shocking. In my experience I wouldn’t want to keep changing the formula because that can upset them even more. I paid a privately to see a dietician in the end and we trialled a milk intolerance. Obviously he had a couple of other symptoms that weren’t ‘typical’ but the silent reflux was the worst and the pain problem. Whilst some spit up is normal if your little one is really uncomfortable after feeding then yes I’d take them back could just need something like gavison to help keep the acid down

I’m in the US, n yeah she’d wake up out of her sleep crying. I’ve never changed her formula before but was wondering it encomio gentle ease might be a better match. I’ll her pediatrician again tho thank you
