NIPT test not free anymore?

Just wondering what happened. On my last pregnancy, two years ago I was offered a test for abnormalities, done with my blood, I specifically remember they told me that if they were to find something, they would further test with an American company or I could choose another kind that was very expensive. I'm pregnant again and they just told me the test would be 350$??? I don't understand, did the province stoped offering the service??

I was pregnant in 2022 (baby born Feb 2023) and it was an optional test you had to pay for then as well

To my knowledge NIPT has always been optional and you needed to pay for it. The price has changed. I just got mine done like you said it was $350 but I had a friend do hers a few years ago and it was less than $200.

My doctor told me to have it covered you have to get the blood test first, if there's any concerns they send you for I think one other thing and then NIPT. She mentioned some women choose to skip to the NIPT but then you have to pay
