If I can and have the time I make my own pasta sauce but honestly they would be eating such a small amount in comparison to the amount in the jar so it wouldn't be too bad. Maybe they might do low salt versions which would be a good alternative x
I was wondering the same thing to be honest. But I don't have time to make my own sauce. So Im buying the one at lidl, 99% tomato sauce, it contains a small amount of salt What about toast ? It contains salt as well or Greek yogurt
@Dolly omg i didnt even think about this, i give toast and yoghurt all the time
They're not meant to have any more than 1g per day
For the spag bol piccolo do a baby bolognese sauce which is dead easy to just mix with pasta if you’re having a jar and want the same for baby but healthier/ with less salt. We use them all the time and baby loves them x
For reference, an adult portion of Dolmio Bolognese (as an example) contains 0.75g of salt, the portion for a baby would be much smaller and the therefore safely under their daily allowance. As long as you are sensible about other salt intake and don’t add additional salt during cooking, I’m sure it is absolutely fine. It’s likely to be higher in sugar than salt. A slice of white medium Hovis bread contains 0.36g. Greek yoghurt should really only contain tiny amount of naturally occurring salts (0.1%), you definitely don’t need to worry about that. If you are able to and enjoy making your own sauces, that’s a lovely thing to do, but don’t feel bad for using a jar, maybe just compare and check what the labels say, and keep things balanced.
For the amount they’d eat, I honestly wouldn’t worry… it would be a bit different if it was a daily thing. I make a lot of my own food but gave my 9 month old fish fingers and beans the other day with my toddler… shoot me 😂
Yes I make my own sauce
