Membrane/cervical sweep

I’m 39 weeks and due 17th, was told by my midwife would likely be having a sweep if there’s still no labour sign. I have read about it n I’m just wanting to hear from personal experiences. If you could please share. Thank you

Hello! I had sweep on my due date and it's not painful, i mean they put 2 fingers up you is not ideal but the midwifes aim is to sweep the membranes away to bring on labour (I personally wanted this as I didn't want to be induced). I was at a wedding a couple of days before and on my feet all day so I think it helped and was a successful sweep and my mucus plug came away right after appointment and I was getting early contractions like 20 hrs later x my experience was very positive. Have you been quite active already?

It’s your choice, so you will only have a sweep if *you* want.

@Amanda yeah been taking long walks, stretches, I still do things I did before pregnancy

@Maeve yeah. Thank you💖

I had a sweep around then but I requested it ahead of a booked induction to ideally go into labour on my own. I’m surprised they’d encourage it at 39 weeks unless they are keen to get you in labour sooner. It didn’t work for me I still had to have the induction a week later. It was uncomfortable but not too bad. Completely your choice on whether to go for it.
