Babies engaged

I’m due the same day as you. I last saw the midwife on Saturday who said I’m 3/5 engaged. This is my second baby and my first arrived at 38 weeks on the dot

@Anna I was 3/5 engaged two weeks back!

How can they tell this? I went for my 36 weeks appointment and never got told?

@Alex my midwife felt and it’s how much of the head they can feel so two weeks back they only felt a third of it but she said he’s right down there now and it could be anytime from now xx

Wait by when they push down on your belly like?

Hopefully not too much longer for you then! I’m finishing work on Thursday, so as long as little one can hold on til then, I’m happy

She pushed down on my belly and said she’s head down but never said how engaged??

@Alex when the midwife feels low down near your pubic bone they feel for baby’s head. It should be posted to badger notes in the antenatal summary of your last appointment under ‘engagement’.

@Alex maybe she’s waiting until your next appointment. I said that I was having lightning pelvis so maybe that’s why she checked but I knew he was quite engaged anyway x

I don’t have badger notes the hospital I’m under don’t use that.

Right ok perhaps that’s why then. Perhaps at my 38 week one she’ll say then.

@Alex different midwife’s do different things though. I’d mentioned that my bump had dropped and when he has hiccups I can feel it more in my bum than anywhere else. I wouldn’t worry that she hasn’t checked, you’ll know anyway as you can feel that their position had changed x
