NIPT inconclusive result

I got this as a result of my NIPT. All the tests came out low risk except for sex chromosomes. Has anyone else gone through this. I would be grateful to hear your experiences.

I don’t think mine was presented like this (which makes it sound perhaps worse than it is) but I had no result for sex chromosomes also and gave birth to a healthy baby boy.

I haven't had this personally but sometimes it can happen if the test is taken a bit early.

My friend did and is currently 20 some odd weeks pregnant. Further testing determined the baby is fine. I think its pretty common when they can't conclusively say the results are 1000% normal. I would try not to stress too much about it and go for further testing later. She was referred for this. Good luck, your baby is probably normal!

The foetal fraction on mine was 10% I had the blood taken after my nuchal scan result came back. Always a good idea with NIPT to have it done later, if needed.

I think I got inconclusive results with my daughter, and they said totally normal just repeat next week. And then everything came back fine.

It's just early. Try not to worry, there are plenty of scans in your near future that will clear this right up.

How many weeks were you? NOT trying to scare you AT ALL. but I just have to share my experience just incase it is someone else's experience and so they know they are not alone I had my NIPT done at 10 weeks and it came back inconclusive, but was told it was too early. So I did it again at 13 weeks, that was also inconclusive. I ended up miscarrying at 15 weeks. We sent a sample of my babes to be DNA tested & the results came back with Trisomy (genetic abnormality) & so that's why the NIPT results were the way they were Again, not trying to scare you. I was told that I'm apart of the 2% to experience this & that its totally random. I would just talk to your OB and ask to submit the NIPT again at a later date or see if there's any other further testing you can do ❤️ sending you good vibes for a healthy baby

I have 🙋‍♀️ with my first pregnancy the gender part of the test failed twice. Had to wait until the anatomy scan to see that he was very clearly a boy. After he was born and around a year old they do a standard blood test and we added on a genetic test for sex chromosomes just to make sure nothing was hiding. He’s just a standard boy, the fetal cells just weren’t high enough to register on the test.

Thank you so much for the responses and kind words everyone. I have started next steps and going to meet with a genetic counsellor next week. My gynaecologist will also see me soon. So I can discuss my options and go for further testing either cvs or amnio

For what it’s worth, I was told that it really wasn’t a big deal and I would just need to wait until the gender scan. I wasn’t offered any follow up because they have tested for abnormalities as per the purpose of the text - finding out the sex is just a bonus that can be done through the gender scan. Try not to worry x

Btw there is a theory that if the sex is inconclusive you are more likely to have a boy ;)

NIPT is notorious for having false positives. The genetic counselor will likely recommend a CVS or amniocentesis depending on how far along you are, which should give you more conclusive results.

@Shaivi there are risks that come with further testing, although I understand if you opt for it. We just decided to wait until the anatomy scan to confirm since all of the “important” tests were normal.

We want our baby to be healthy and happy, may it be a boy or a girl. But it’ll be exciting to know so we can prepare for the arrival. I issue not only comes with not knowing the sex. The issue is they weren’t able to come to a conclusive result for Monosomy X which concerns me
