My girl is 13m and isn't walking yet but has been crawling and cruising since 7 months so can quickly get everywhere and into everything . The tantrums when she gets something taken off her or away from something are unreal 🙈 she cries hard at no so I just have to say stuff like "that doesn't go into your mouth", or we don't play with that because it's dangerous" and then distract with something else and offer lots of praise or enthusiasm when they engage with it. Its haaaard though. I wasn't expecting this til closer to 2 🤣
@Alice I have the harness and he takes it off!! It’s so difficult, the busy boards were great until he could walk and now just seems more interested in the real thing! I’m hoping he begins to understand the word no sooner rather than later and this passes ahah!! Thank you so much for the advice!!xx
@Kerry it’s so hard!!! It comes on so quickly?? I was not expecting such a defiant one year old! I try to redirect all the time and the tantrums can be so overwhelming! Hoping it gets better for the both of us soon ahaha!! Thank you for the advice!!xx
Could you take him to one of those soft play centres to get all the energy out xx
They're not for everyone, but you could try the harness/reins for walks out. Also the Montessori busy or sensory boards might be good - you can get ones that mimic wires, plugs etc that safely redirect from the actual thing? Although maybe might backfire and think they're encouraging it 🤷 ! It's hard!
