Anti-reflux milk - when to stop?

Hi, my LO is 10 weeks old and due to suspected reflux (which has been causing her a lot of discomfort feeding and laying down), we tried SMA anti reflux formula (gaviscon and inafacol didn't work). She's been on it for 7 days and has had quite a bit of green diarrhoea, sometimes a few times a day. She still seems hydrated enough. The only difference we have noticed since being on the milk is that she seems to more easily lay down in her moses now and isn't crying for hours all the time. But she still spits up hours after feeding, hiccups, and can take a long time to settle due to discomfort. How long do I give it to know whether I need to stop giving this milk? If it does work, how long do you give anti reflux milk for? Until 6 months? Or longer? Thanks x

Have you tried putting gaviscon into the anti reflux formula? The only way my little Girls reflux got better was doing this! I thought it was abit strange at first making the formula twice as thick but it’s worked for her! I really hope it gets sorted for you soon it’s awful!! Xx

Also my little girl is still on it and she’s been on the formula since she was about 6ish weeks old and having the gaviscon over the last good few weeks maybe over a month or so x

@Jodie oh no I haven't tried this..I just thought because the gaviscon seemed to have no immediate relief to her that it wouldn't make a difference putting it in the anti reflux milk. She got quite bad constipation on it and seemed so uncomfortable. But maybe I will give this a goz too Did you LO get constipation on gaviscon too? My lo is also due to have a tongue tie division on Monday so don't know if that will help X

Feel free to send me a private message! But I didn’t know it either until the doctor told me too! She has been slightly constipated but I just stopped a sachet of gaviscon and within a few hours she had done a poo! I did have to bicycle her legs etc. You could always go to the doctors and see if they can give you some omeprazole (I think that is how you spell it). That could possibly help with the tongue tie. It’s all trial and error I tried loads of different things. Like I said feel free to message me with any questions etc or if not just write them on here and I can answer them xx

That's reassuring, thanks so much! X

It can take a minimum of two weeks for the reflux medication to work xx
