Are salsa dancing spins safe in pregnancy? 💃🏽

I am a salsa / bachata dancer! (Just for fun) I took a break first trimester due to severe nausea/vomiting, but I am starting to get back into walking and light exercise. I am thinking of rejoining my old team or going to classes if I feel up to it. I used to do a lot of spins. Is this safe in pregnancy? Or could it causes issues with cord wrapping / position of baby?

No effect on the baby’s cord or position. Totally fine as long you’re not getting too dizzy and fall. Drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration and dizziness, as a general rule during pregnancy, not just for spinning lol.

Also, your center of gravity will change as your belly gets bigger and spins may get more challenging 😊

When a man is dancing w a obviously pregnant lady he is more aware of his surroundings and her surrounding and the spins he’s giving her. So keep dancing. Or maybe just stick to bachata for now. It’s slower, less steps, more sensual. My bachata teacher - I saw her fall pregnant, teach pregnant the whole way through, and went back to teaching at 2m PP 😂 so I saw her whole journey. So yes they are safe just wear sneakers for more balance if you can instead of heeled salsa shoes. I absolutely love salsa I have paid lessons every Monday and free lessons and a social at the club every Friday. It’s mixed w bachata though, and ends w Reggaeton

Thank you both!! Super helpful!

Move that body mama! No issues at all

Thank you!! My OB confirmed it as well! Turns are safe, so long as I reduce my risk of falling/injury
