We're having a boy and calling him Sky 💜 weird actually because Atlas was also on our list! I think its a lovely girl or boys name, however you spell it too!
I work with children and have never met a boy Sky/Skyler/Skyla - but have came across many many girls. Doesn't mean it can't be unisex though! I'm also north of the country so maybe that makes an difference
I love the name Atlas 💕 Just out of interest what’s considered an aggressive name for a boy?
Skyler is unisex but “Skye” is a more feminine sounding name
The guy from Mamma Mia is called sky and Iv always liked it more for a boy. It’s definitely a feminine name, but I really like it. I don’t think it goes with atlas tho only because it’s two word names! So it sounds like you’re describing a sky map lol
I have a male friend whose name is Stacey. Nothing is ever too girly. I know men that have the name Skye or similar.
@Cassidy you saying that I know a male kelly as well. Sky is great for a boy. If my baby is a boy they'll be called Atlas xx
Is the baby carrying his last name? If so, tell him it’s entirely your decision to name the baby. :) If that doesn’t do it, tell him it’s your choice for carrying the baby 9 months
My girl is a Skye - I love the name. The film Mamma Mia has a character (male) called Sky so I’ve always seen that as the boys version but it really doesn’t matter, it’s a great unisex name.
I work with a male Skyler. I think it's a pretty common boys name.
My step sons name is Skyler and people mistake him for a girl all the time when reading his name. School, doctor etc. Especially if people end up calling him “Skye” for a nickname. All the other Skyler’s he comes across are girls.
I think skyler is but I like Sky/Skye for a boy :)
The only Skyler I've ever met in person was a male.
@Taylor now that's unique 🤣

I think Skyler is okay for a boy, but I don't know that I would use Skye as the nickname. What about calling him Ky for short? 🤷🏼♀️
I had a kid move to our school in like 3rd grade his name was Schuyler like history’s the Schuyler sisters 🤷🏼♀️
@Zaza I'm not even sure how to describe it, but it's not in a bad way... I feel like the energy of the name has an impact on the kids longrun 🫣 names like Thor, Hunter, Leo - they come with that pack of energy which some mamas would love as they are strong and fierce and sound amazing! 🤗 I just couldn't find a better way to describe, sorry 😅
I think unisex but Skyler leans a bit more masculine and just Skye leans a bit more feminine I’d say. What if you switched it to Skyler Atlas, or Atlas Skye? Or maybe Apollo Skye Silas Skye Wyatt Atlas Onyx Atlas Onyx Skye Oslo Skye Ryker Atlas Fox Skyler Elio Atlas Ellis Skye Lyle Atlas
Atlas Skye is cool
As a female Skylar I didn’t like my name growing up because it felt more masculine to me. Though I’ve met a few other Skyler/Skylar’s throughout my life and it’s been a pretty even split of male vs female.
@Jessica the thing is I'm Turkish and my family doesn't really speak English, name Atlas was an idea to give as a middle name for all the Turkish relatives finding the English/foreign names difficult to say 🫣 it sounds very different when you read it in Turkish otherwise I'd totally make it the first name 🥲 love the name combos you shared, appreciated 🥰
@Sky you've got a beautiful name for sure 🥰🥰 also good to hear it from your point of view!!!
@Hande Why not flip the names then? Atlas Skye instead for a boy? I personally think skye/skyler sounds more for a girl. Without the (K), though, syler sounds boyish. Of course, it's totally up to you and your husband, though. I'm sure you would both like to agree on the name you give to your child
@Hande that’s ok hun I was just so intrigued like hmm I wonder what’s considered an aggressive sounding name. I was thinking Graham because of the Grrrrr 🤣🤣🤣 but now you’ve explained more I get what you mean…also my daughter is called Rainn but she hates water 🤷🏾♀️🤣
It’s a unisex name. As long as you give him the correct male spelling (which is Skyler) it’s no big deal. As a Skylar when I see a male with name spelled with an A it slightly irks me 😂😂😂 Or a girl spelled with an E.
@Stephanie it's because I'm Turkish and the way Atlas is spelled English vs Turkish is quite different 🥲 my family doesn't really speak English, so Atlas was more for them to use hence middle name but here he'd definitely use the first name (hence the dilemma 🫣) haha
@Zaza ahaha I totally see why Grrrraham comes to mind 🤣🤣🤣 Rainn is a beautiful name btw 🥰
@Skylar haha love hearing the POV of Sky's and Skylar's 🤗 guess it's a tricky one after all, my husband might've had a point 🫣
Skyler is definitely gender neutral - personally, i prefer Skylar for a boy, as i think it looks more masculine. i would be slightly more likely to assume Skye was a girl's name - but again, it's more due to the spelling. i think the name itself works for either gender, but i prefer Sky for a boy. i think the "e" ending makes the name appear more feminine, rather than the name itself. another option would be to use the original Dutch spelling of the name, which is Schuyler - which definitely looks more masculine. Skyler is the anglicised version of the name, and it is pronounced exactly the same way - although i appreciate that spelling of the name is more likely to be misprounced. 💙

My sister’s name is Skyler and the school secretaries always used to think that she was a boy when my parents came to pick her up. She’s also had people tell her that her name is a boy name🙃
@Hande 😂😂😂 ‘Er’ is the make version and ‘Ar’ is the female version 😂😂 Fuck it. Just do the original spelling which is Schuyler 😭😭😭
I had an ex who was Skylar I feel like with the a instead of e it's more masculine
I think its fine for a boy even if it's not the most masculine
@Hande Ooh. Thank you for that clarification. I understand the dilemma. It is tough to find names that both you and your husband can agree on
We called our boy Erin which is normally considered a girls name but we wanted something soft and strong so Erin it was. We gave him Joseph as a middle name so that he has a more typically considered masculine name to go with it. Go with what your heart says.
I know male and female Skye’s and if I didn’t have a Skye related to me already my son would have been Skyler cause I love that name.
Skye with the e reads as feminine to me, and Sky like the word as more masculine. I had a male dog who recently passed away named Sky and I'm still totally in love with his name, if I hadn't used it on him before I'd had kids it would've been on my list for a son. I think Skyler is solidly unisex
@Deb they'll definitely share one name then and for Atlas I know people take it as the map etc but I'm inspired from the Greek mythology, he's holding up the "sky"(hence the name Sky was in my mind) / "heavens" on his shoulders, he's strong and steady and resilient 🤞🏻🩵 it's just such a nice name!
@Nathalie how did I miss this comment 🤣 I'll try this to see his reaction hihihi
@Madelina ♡ I have a feeling he might question me for the rest of his life for the spelling he'd need to go through 🤣 though I love the meaning and original spelling would make the most sense haha I'm just thinking in the long run everyone would simply call him Sky nonetheless
@Skylar I think both my side of the family and himself in the future would be like, mum why did you?? (because of the spelling) my parents for sure would give a blue screen if they even try! 🤣🤣
@Jessica I'm in love 🥲🩵
@Aimee my heart is set on Sky but my husband is hard to convince~ still have 20 weeks to persuade him I suppose 🤣
@Lacy totally get you, my cat's name is Luna and I was partially gutted in case I had a girl that's a name I'd love to use at the same time haha (sorry for your loss btw 🌈🥲)

@Hande lol! Do that. That’s the agreement I did with my husband. Seems only fair: you get the last name, I get the names. 😊 And then everyone is at least half happy. Or ask him if he wants to name them and they het your last name instead. 😇
@Hande my daughter is called Wyntr, and the names go so well together as siblings. Atlas is becoming more popular now though, but we like the meaning to it, the same for Wyntr, although she'll spend her whole life telling people how to spell her name, poor child. If you want Sky go for it! It's a lovely name x
honestly i don’t think it’s too girly. but i used to have a friend named Stryker, and that’s what i thought the post said at first 😂
