Breastfeeding and a blocked nose

My toddler has bought home what we think maybe Covid from nursery. He had a temp of 40 degrees and has a nasty dry cough earlier in the week (but is much better now). Obviously it has been very stressful wondering if he would pass it on to his 4-week old brother 😵‍💫 so far he has only given it to me and I’ve felt dreadful with a raging fever, cough, headache and head cold. I’m exclusively breastfeeding so have had to be in very close contact with my LO. It looks like now he has a snotty nose.. does anyone have any hints or tips of how to breastfeed when your baby has a blocked nose? He can’t seem to latch for very long as he can’t breathe 🤷🏽‍♀️

Mine had a blocked nose very snotty around 3 - 4 weeks also from his older sister 🤦‍♀️ we used snuffle babe nasal drops and a baby aspirator which really helped. Feel better soon

Warm bath and using warm water to clean the nose, and then bf’ing upright

My two week old little boy got blocked nose and cold as my three year old caught a cold from nursery! It’s horrible because it seems like you can’t give them anything to help x

The pediatrician that saw my baby said that for blocked noses we should be using a saline solution and put some drops in his nose before breastfeeding. We do it while he sucks on my finger and it works

To help loosen mucus, you can use saline drops prior to feeding and then feeding smaller amounts more often to help. Warm baths and a humidifier can also help. Continue breastfeeding as that can pass your bodies antibodies to baby and if you harvested colostrum you can give that too

My 6 week old has the cold going around atm. Everyone has it, i dont think it is covid as the people i know who have tested have all come back negative. You can get a saline spray to clear their nose out. Most supermarkets sell it x

Try feeding positions where the baby is more upright. My LO had oral thrush 2 weeks ago (so at 4 weeks) as part of that she was a little congested, and I found the laying down latch and sitting her sort of on my knee then leaning back helped her latch and feed easier.
