Owlet dream sock

Wondering if anyone has used the owlet dream sock and if it’s worth the money? Has anyone used anything similar that’s more affordable, or has any alternative suggestions?

Hiya, Yes, I have used one on my daughter since she was 3 months old and I truly wish I had brought it from the day she was born, it has absolutely changed my experience of early motherhood. I spent the first 12 weeks anxiety ridden following all the SIDS advice from midwife’s. I use it for every sleep and it is worth every penny, the camera is also really good too xx Don’t let anyone put you off it and tell you you don’t need it. There are alot of things we don’t ‘need’ but a couple of people told me that in the early days and I should have ignored them. If you can afford it, get it! Xxx

Yes I have it, have used it since she was about a week old (we were in and out of hospital the first week) and it has made me feel so much more relaxed. I don’t feel like I need to check on her every 5 minutes in the night and it means I can get a decent sleep and not just a light sleep because I know it will tell me if something is wrong

@Evie agreed!💓

I’ve heard mixed things about it - a lot of my friends who have used it said it malfunctioned a lot I used the Sense-U clip and loved it. It malfunctioned when she started rolling over in bed, but until like 6 months it was perfect

I personally was looking into buying it. I don't think it's worth the money. But it's up to you, really, if you think you really need it.

I bought a nanny mat - it goes under the mattress and you just switch it on. It’s been the best thing for me. I can sleep without wondering what if

@Kathy i really don’t think anyone can make a true review if it’s worth it unless you have used the product, I think anyone who used one would see the benefit and the peace of mind it brings xxx

I will also just add here that these companies prey on us and our fears. You absolutely don’t need one. But it worked on me and scared me shitless and I caved.

@Amy Cuthbert I second this 🙌

@Stephanie I think people use the wrong terminology here saying the the owlet “malfunctioned”. What’s likely being referred to here is that the sock base plays a lullaby every time the sock placement isn’t correct or the sock is out of range of the base station. This can happen quite a bit if one struggles at first with the placement of the sock or has to walk to another room to do a nappy change or make a bottle etc. So it playing the lullaby often can get annoying. But that shows it actually works. It does also set off the occasional false alarm but this again is likely due to sock placement or baby being maybe a bit sick (i.e. congested etc). But this again shows that the sock works. I’ve had 2 false alarms in the last 7 months and baby was congested/a bit unwell when they happened and one was due to the sock moving out of place. IMO it’s 100% worth it for the peace of mind if you are an anxious Mamma like me 🤗💕

Yes it was setting off alarms when there was no danger. For each of my friends this happened several times a week. The sock had been placed properly and was reading wrong. It was malfunctioning.

I had the owlet sock & camera with my daughter as a gift from when she was born and absolutely getting one for my little boy who’s due in November. Personally think it’s the best thing ever xx As for people saying it sets off alarms when no danger… the first week or so it did this to me but it was because I wasn’t attaching it properly and as soon as I got the hang of it, it never went off again unless for a valid reason. Id also rather it go off when there wasn’t danger than have nothing to go off of there ever were danger x

@Stephanie sounds like a broken sock xx

@Amy Cuthbert agreed!

@Lauren When it comes to the owlet rather get advice from people who have used it. The only time I’ve seen negative feedback is from other people relaying the info that they heard from someone who used it. I don’t say that to offend anyone or to say that’s not what that person heard. But it’s just an observation I’ve made 🤷‍♀️

Snuz hero is the only healthcare recommended one and half the price - we used it

It alerted us when our son stopped breathing so I’ll be forever grateful for the product! We just bought a new one for our daughter who is due is November. I could not recommend it more. The ‘malfunctions’ people talk about are the orange alerts which mean too much movement or they’ve knocked it off. It sings a song when this happens, we just placed the sock when he was asleep or nearly asleep to avoid it going off. If you’re rocking them it can go off. I’d rather have something “too” sensitive 😂

It’s completely worth it to me. I’d rather get false alarms than no alarm when something is going on with my baby. I have yet to get a fake alarm though. He has worn it since 5 days old. I got it on sale from Amazon days and only paid $170 for it. I also used Afterpay so I could test it out without paying for it all incase I wanted to return it. But the peace of mind it gives me is worth every penny and then some. I have spent more on useless things.

We absolutely love ours and agree with the other positive reviews that people have left on this post. I was the same as you, really unsure whether or not to get one due to them being so pricey but we couldn’t be without ours and it’s provided so much peace of mind, which has ultimately allowed us to get some rest when he’s sleeping without checking he’s ok every two minutes. I haven’t met/spoken to anyone who has got one that regrets getting it and doesn’t recommend it. I only see negative reviews from people who haven’t used them first hand, which isn’t really an accurate review anyway. We’ve got the monitor too which is fab! I actually think it’s great value for money when you see everything you get, all of the different size socks. There also aren’t any subscription fees for the app which I have seen with other alternatives x
