Croup

I think my 2 year old may have a mild case of croup. Taking her to the pediatrician tomorrow to confirm. How long is she considered contagious? Online it says until fever passes BUT my daughter never had fever so far. My daughter had covid about 3 weeks ago. No symptoms other than mild fever. Around day 10 she began having "cold like" symptoms, and then on Sunday she started having a bark/seal like cough. It's not consistent though. Sometimes it's a wet chesty cough. So ya, contagion... I have a 5 month old so far that has not caught it from his sister, but I'm so anxious that he might. Both kids have to be together in the car tomorrow and my mama heart worries. I'm so over sicknesses, but this is daycare life... đŸ˜«

My toddler had croup a bunch of times, we were never told it was contagious nor have we caught it off him! They’ll give you steroid medication for croup if she does have it!

@Andrina thanks! How long does it typically take until the steroid starts working or the cough improves?

My kids had this as well.... so it's normally like a dog bark sound and very raspy.... sitting in the bathroom with like steam helps and humidifiers help and yes they could give an oral steroid or other cases the puffers to help open airways . At the hospital they gave her an oral steroid that worked right away then with reg advil and Tylenol she was okay

@Debra worked within a few hours/24 hours!!

@Andrina good to know! My daughter does have croup but also a double ear infection. Doctor didn't prescribe steroid because cough wasn't bad and she's not having trouble breathing. She does have to take a weeks worth of antibiotics. Hopefully it all goes forward from here đŸ€ž
