I would if needed to. The wisdom teeth coming in van affect your other teeth a lot so I'd want it done sooner than later. I would try to find the place with the best reviews tho
I have and all was fine! I was awake and it was easy
I wasn't pregnant when I had mine done but I had it done with just laughing gas and was fine. Don't know if that is safe during pregnancy but just sharing my experience that it wasn't so bad even though I was awake. I'm sure there are other options.
Yeah you can have them removed awake! That will avoid the anesthesia that puts you to sleep! Not all oral surgeons will do them but many will! I was awake (but not pregnant) and thought it was cool! And for pain meds, ibuprofen works better than narcotics anyway.
I haven't gone through it myself while pregnant , but I totally get the urge to just get those pesky teeth out, especially after what you went through last time. It makes sense to wait until the second trimester when it's usually safer for procedures like that. Plus, local anesthesia can help keep it low-risk. If the pain gets worse or you start feeling really miserable, it might be worth chatting with your doc about the best plan. Just dealing with infections again sounds like a huge hassle, so I’d lean toward being proactive if you can!
You can always do the removal without anesthesia. That's how I did mine and they just numbed me. I also just went to a dentist not an orthodontist. So anesthesia was not an option for me.
Alot of dentists/doctors won't do a procedure like that while you're pregnant unless it's a serious emergency.
@Jesika wait, I'm curious about this option because I still have mine and the idea of general anesthesia really scares me. Was it painful at all or did the numbing really do the job? Was it difficult to be awake while they removed them? I believe I only have two wisdom teeth, two just don't exist, so in theory mine would be a shorter removal.
Mine had to be postponed because of pregnancy, then had to wait 1.5 years until they finally did it! I had them all removed! But that's the joys of an overstretched and crumbling nhs! I even accidentally took an overdose because the pain was so bad, and I ended up hospitalised. Of course all was fine but lesson learnt and all that!
Consult with both your OB and the dentist on risk benefit. Dental infections can be serious in pregnancy, so it might be worth doing if your OB and dentist agree. Ask your dentist if they think they can do it under local anesthesia (just lidocaine) - I only used lidocaine for mine which is safe for pregnancy
Anesthesia is dangerous for the baby when pregnant I’ve heard so I’d say wait better safe than sorry
I had complications when getting mine out and had to be rushed to the emergency room because they couldn’t get it to stop bleeding even with like cauterizing it. I almost had to be put under but luckily didn’t in the end. Just because of that experience I personally wouldn’t risk it
I’m a dental assistant and you definitely can have them removed if your ob approves it. Just make sure to inform your dentist obviously and they will make decisions based on that (X-rays/what kind of anesthetic they will use) during pregnancy they will not administer n20 (you shouldn’t even be in the same area as it being administered if you’re pregnant) so if you have anxiety with dental treatment that is the only down fall. We have successfully removed wisdom teeth on women even in their 3rd trimester! Good luck😊
Also if anyone has experiences with Aspen dental for wisdom tooth removal let me know! That's who I see.
