Question

I’m due to have my first section (2nd baby) in Jan, just wondering is it hard to get up and sit down on a sofa. So my bed is rather high, should I get little steps or is it not like that type of pain? I know pain as my first was a long 12 week recovery and very painful but different area so i could use my stomach muscles

I really struggled to get out of bed from a lying down position and I needed help getting off the sofa if my feet couldn’t touch the floor

I couldn’t sit up straight to walk for atleast a week the pain is no joke i would definitely get a stool

I’ve struggled to get in and out of bed, but once your up and moving a bit, it gets a bit easier until it’s time to lay back down to rest. I’m 2 weeks post via c-section (2nd one) and it’s getting a bit easier each day

It’s difficult yes, but if you take it slow and don’t rush then it’s not as bad as everyone says (in my opinion). I could easily get up from my bed/off the sofa, as long as I took it easy x

I found it so much easier getting off of a higher bed as I didn’t have to strain as much. Rolling onto your side makes getting up a lot easier as you can use your arm to push yourself xx

They teach you to roll out of a sitting position rather than sitting up normally. I think I had to do that for a few weeks. It feels silly but it stops you pulling your stitches and using your stomach muscles

I didn’t find it too bad. Use your arms to turn yourself/push off and your legs to push rather than your tummy muscles

I'm a week post c section. This is my second one using a belly band helps so much as well. The hospital should give you one. Take your time. With my first c section I couldn't even get in bed I had to be in a recliner for 2 months. This one I'm able to lay in bed.

Also a step stool helps I had to use one in the hospital and it made the world of difference. It helped me not strain as much. Message me if you would like

@Joy you don’t get given a belly band or anything in the uk xx

My bed is high and I have a step stool, one step. I used it after my first c-section. Got up on it turned so I could sit on the bed. I had to do that for the first few days home. I can’t remember getting up/out.

My recovery after my c-section was super easy and smooth. I only have one child, but it was quick and easy. My friend who had a vaginal birth but tore had a worse recovery than I did.

I had no trouble getting on and off of a sofa. The bed was a little tricky and painful but if I took it slow it was ok. My bed is normal height but I am pretty short

@Paris Yeah I had forceps and 3a degree tear (front to back) + 2L blood loss and 4 transfusions. Now I have to have a section

It’s harder to get up from laying down you need something to pull on ideally - to not use your stomach muscles. If your partner can’t help you in and out. The sofa was a bit easier depends how low it is

The key process is do everything slow and steady and you should be just fine. I always found it easier to sit on the edge of your sofa and slowly stand up. It's sore don't get me wrong but it does help. I found lying down and sitting up hard but it's hard to not use your stomach muscle to do so x

Higher will likely be easier than lower. Also hold a pillow on your stomach when you stand, it will help.
