Blood pressure checks…

So I was having my blood pressure checked every 3 weeks as a precaution, had my second consultant appointment today and my first growth scan. Everything is fine and exactly as expected, but he’s asked me to get my blood pressure done every week… and idk why 🤷🏻‍♀️ my blood pressure hasn’t even been remotely high so far.. I’m so awkward in these appointments and my partner usually comes with me but couldn’t today so I didn’t ask. It’s such a hassle for me as my midwife isn’t based at my GP and to get to the midwife or hospital it’s over half an hours drive for me! For a 2 second blood pressure check 🙈 Has anyone not bothered with it…? I’m being seen again in 4 weeks anyway… I was thinking maybe just get seen once between now and then instead?

Ask if you can do a blood pressure diary at home and just have a weekly telephone appointment to discuss results? 😊 Would be a much truer reflection of your blood pressure too!

Depending on why you are having it checked, I assume that the risk will increase as the pregnancy progresses, assuming they are checking for preeclampsia? But agree with above, ask to be given a monitor to do it at home or they send someone to you!

I monitor BP at home daily (mine is always normal-low so far) - that seems like it would be easier. x

Ask if they can allow you to do this at home. It’s always best to do as they say as it’s probably for a good reason. You could ask them for any local drop in clinics or if your doctors surgery can do the BP if that’s closest to you xx
