It depends what line of work you are in. I do an office job that’s hybrid. Due to me driving over an hour to the office they have adapted my working hours due to fatigue and traffic. Because I’m at a desk all of the day not much else has been put into place as I am not doing any heavy lifting or around the public all day to be exposed to illnesses.
I’m having a risk assessment every 4 weeks they’re going to adapt to how I’m feeling and my growth
I work at hospital on a ward, I've had a risk assessment done, I'm not supposed to do any heavy lifting, I'm supposed to have support on every shift from another person but sometimes this rarely happens, I only do what I feel I can do. Don't let them take the piss. The further along I get the harder things are going to be and I believe I'm due another risk assessment soon.
I’m in retail and had to tell them at 5 weeks due to them asking me to move and manage a new store. I’ve been struggling massively with back pain and sciatica so part of my risk assessment was that I needed a chair to sit on behind the till. Then also general things such as no heavy lifting and splitting my breaks so I get two lots of rest. My line manager checks in with me regularly as well. Luckily the shop I moved to is smaller than my previous one so it’s been easier to adjust so far.
I work in a school - I’ve had no risk assessment. I’d be curious to know if there are any others that work in a school and what their risk assessment included
I’m a youth worker at an AP, my manager has been amazing so far - my risk assessment included no heavy lifting and avoiding certain activities or young people that are high risk, lots of breaks available if needed and support with driving as I get bigger xx
I work in customer service and my shifts are working as late as 2am in the morning. Ive had to put in a flexible working form to finish no later than 8pm. But my work are being quite difficult about it. Plus no risk assessments have been done as of yet. I’ve had to go on sick this week due to the stress of the late finishes. Would this be the right time to go to involve HR?
Yes I would. If HR doesn’t support you, (which they didn’t in my case), there are labor laws that protect you. Good luck!
I left my job at 17 wks pregnant because they didn’t accommodate me
