Food ideas

Hi Mommas! What's your go to foods for baby. Ours is on 3 meals a day. Weetabix for breakfast. His main meal is lunch time which is usually a ready Ella's kitchen meal. Then toast for tea before bed at 6. Has rice cakes, melty sticks and yogurt aswell. But I'm worried we're not getting in the fruits into his diet. As much as he loves his dairylea on toast it has 0 nutritional benefits lol. Need some ideas for a momma that doesn't really cook but also appropriate for his age (turns 1 on Sunday). Thank you! Picture of his enjoying his toast as we speak ☺️

My boy has just turned 1! Breakfast; different types cereal, toast, crumpets, pancakes, porridge, croissants etc. Lunch; sandwich, crisps, fruit, cheese & yogurt. Dinner; whatever we are having (I don’t make separate at dinner) Pudding; banana, raisins & yogurt

Happy early birthday to your little one! It sounds like he’s already got a great start with a varied diet! Try mashing or grating some fruit like banana, pear, or apple right into his Weetabix. You could also try a few blueberries or raspberries that are squished a bit to avoid choking hazards. With his Ella’s Kitchen meal, you could serve a small side of soft fruit like kiwi, mango, or mandarin segments (peeled well). If he likes yogurt, you could mix in some mashed or small pieces of fruit. If he enjoys Ella’s Kitchen, their fruit puree pouches are also a great snack to add fruits to his day. You can even mix them into yogurt or drizzle over porridge if he’s getting bored of plain flavors. Swap out the Dairylea sometimes for mashed banana or a thin spread of unsweetened apple sauce. Even a thin layer of peanut butter with fruit slices on top can be fun if he’s already been introduced to nuts.

Pasta with butter, cheese and mixed veggies. Also tomato based pasta. Eggs and banana pancakes or porridge. Veggie tots and the pizza twists are pretty easy to make too x

I just started to make oat banana raisin biscuits to incorporate fruit too into mine but she hates it lol and then she hates any fruit unless I puree it and sneak it in her porridge

Breakfast my LG has either porridge or wheatbix we put some fruit puree with it , Lunch is usually sandwich , toast or crackers with banana , grapes or strawberries Dinner is usually what we are having cottage pie and veg , pasta , curry or roast etc Snacks are usually fruit , yoghurt, bread sticks etc my LG loves Greek yoghurt and fruit puree and tbh eats everything and anything she will be 1 on the 23rd

Agree with all of the above. We often have yoghurt with mashed up fruit in as a 'pudding' after dinner x

@Louise strawberry and raspberries is my LG favourite

Scrambled eggs with tinned tomatoes or avocado with a bit of toast. Grilled veg and some fish like sardines/makeral just double check for little bones. Raspberry and pear go down well too 😋

Thank you everyone for such wonderful suggestions. I always worry with fruit cause I don't want to be throwing it away all the time. Could I use tinned pears & satsumas ect. In juice not syrup I'm guessing. I want to get a healthy diet into him too not just snacky so these are some awesome ideas. And somethings I could even make for myself so that I actually end up eating myself as I always make sure he eats then forget about myself but I'm sure we've all been there! He's in bed before we have dinner if I make it and unfortunately at the moment it's mostly a "freezer tea" and I don't want to be feeding g him that! I think my problem is I know what I should be doing I just don't. Always been the same but I'm trying to change my ways for him 💜

@Sophie we make batches of fruit puree and freeze in little portion pots the same with her tea if there are any leftovers etc I just get them out the night before or in the mornings xx

Omelette and eggy bread are super easy. My son also loves baked beans, I mix it with some baby pasta, cheese and veggies. I buy a bag of frozen pre chopped mixed veggies, boil with the pasta for 4 minutes. Super easy. I also mash up fruit and mix with plain yoghurt, and fruit in his porridge in the morning x

Rebecca Wilson’s cook books are amazing! Designed for ease and cooking for the whole family

My little man also loves his wheetabix or ready brek for breakfast so I usually chop up some fruit and put them into the whertabix or ready brek it’s a good way to sneak those fruits in 😅 then usually sandwich and more fruit and yoghurt for lunch or eggs and toast etc and then dinner whatever we’re having 🥰 snacks on rice cakes, fruits, melty puffs and crisps 😅 he is also 1 on Sunday 🤩 happy early birthday to your little man 🥳🎂

We usually do dippy egg and toast or porriage for brekki mix a bit of bannana or blueberrys in there..buttery crumpets. Lunch is usually what i eat hummas and crackers,cucumber..egg mayo sandwhich/peanut butter sanwhich..cheese cubes, yoghurt, blend some fruit up. Snacks are little packs of raisins, ellas crisps/oat bars/mini chedders/again fruit. Dinners what we have just mashed up more. Seems to take her so long to eat and the clear up from it feel like all i do is either sorting the 3 meals, feeding her it,clearing up after it or washing up after it 😝
