Chemical pregnancy?

Ok so this is/was my first cycle trying for a second baby and i started bleeding heavily day 26 of my cycle only 7DPO and was bummed because that means not pregnant but also potentially not a long enough luteal phase to even have a chance. I bled heavily Friday Saturday and Sunday which was weird and then today nothing, which is also weird (just not how I would usually expect things to go) any I kind of wanted to test anyway so I did and to my extreme surprise i can definitely see 2 lines. But how is that possible? It was way too much blood to just be implantation bleeding. So is this a chemical pregnancy? But also if the pregnancy wasn’t viable at least 3 days ago at only 7DPO HCG shouldn’t even have been high enough to test positive in the first place let alone still be testing positive 3 days later right? I know I’ll just have to test again tomorrow to see if it’s getting darker or lighter but in the meantime I need theories or please share if you even had anything like this what was the outcome?

What you described, it could have been implantation. I bled pretty bad myself and we confirmed my pregnancy last Wednesday, however mine turns out to be a chemical.

@Susan I have to agree with you. I have a friend who bled last month thinking it was her period and then skipped her period this month. She had an early pregnancy scan which confirmed she was indeed further along than she thought!

@susan I’m sorry to hear it didn’t stick for you, thank you for answering though very helpful. Internet searches were basically telling me that what I seem to be experiencing is impossible. Best of luck for you in your next cycle ❤️

@Brogan that’s super interesting, good to know there’s a chance!

@Jessica insane isn’t it… I am keeping everything crossed for you 🤍

For *science* when do these tests expire? I had a very similar line show up last week… it showed darker around 8 minutes, but thought that was too late to count, so i disregarded it.. thinking I’ll test again for the heck of it tomorrow.. to see if it was a chemical or just faulty tests. — I’ve seen many easy at home tests like this lately that seem to show a faint and then never amount to anything.. so honestly wondering if it’s a horrible batch of false tests 😖

@Nicole I actually have a new batch and a 3 year old expired batch and I tested with both. It’s slightly fainter on the old expired test but not wildly different (I’ve been testing to see if the expired ones are still good lol) you should definitely test again tomorrow! It’s very unlikely/ borderline impossible to get a false positive. Chemical pregnancies are unfortunately extremely common and we are just way more aware of them the better these tests get. Crossing my fingers for us both

@Jessica mine was pretty white this am. I think I’ve developed horrible line eyes.. as I was thinking I saw something.. but it’d def be more visible by now if it was anything. 😣 it’s alright.. already counted myself as out since I got my period.. but then when I saw the superrrr faint on CD4 I thought maybe it was implantation bleeding. But now we’re at CD 11, so if it truly was a line, it should be much darker by now. -my tests expire in 2026. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 hope yours develops more!

So I’m at 20 days past ovulation and tests are still getting darker but only very very slowly so I think it won’t be viable either way and is possibly ectopic. Currently waiting in emergency to see if I can get an ultrasound to confirm whether it’s ectopic or not
