I got on an SSRI after my first. I had PPA. I stayed on it through my second pregnancy and I'm still on it now.
Not anti depressants but I’m bipolar so I’m on a mood stabilizer and an anti-psychotic again starting second trimester. The risks of episodes or psychosis, especially after baby is born are higher to me than the health risk to baby if I were to be off for an entire pregnancy, but I wanted at least the first trimester to be chemically free. I would talk to your mental health provider about your concerns.
I was already on mental health meds before pregnancy and didn't stop a single one when I got pregnant with both kids. And I take 6 different meds I would highly recommend talking to your provider and seeing what your options are. Zoloft is a great medication for people during pregnancy that's safe and has little to no side effects to baby. But it doesn't work for everyone. I can't stress that enough. It might not work for you like it has me over the years. But definitely talk to someone about your symptoms and what you're going through to get a better understanding of what you can take. If you don't wanna take any meds, then maybe seek out a therapist to learn great coping skills and other skills that can help you through tougher times
Feel better. My obgyn wanted to prescribe me anti depressants, but I refused. I started talk therapy and it helped. There are pros and cons to the medication and everyone is different.
