High blood pressure?

Hello lovely mama's! Has anyone experienced high blood pressure readings at appointments and is now being advised to take meds ? I have at appointments but generally is much lower at home e.g. 126/85 at home more like 135ish/85 in hospital.... I was so keen on a midwife centre led water birth, and high blood pressure tabs would make me high risk so can't do that ... I'm also not wanting to take meds unnecessarily. I'm completely fit and well with no symptoms. Would be grateful to know anyones experience.

Do you have a blood pressure meter at home? I usually get a bit antsy at the hospital so my readings are higher there

Hi, I had high blood pressure with my first, I only had to take meds three times in the end but I was in and out of hospital for monitoring for weeks which was a pain in itself. I still had midwife led care still but couldn't have a water birth which I came to terms with if it meant a lower risk birth. Can you ask if monitoring is an option? My little girl was perfectly healthy (dramatic on entry though!) She was on the smaller side which according to my consultant this time could be due to blood pressure or could just because I'm slight anyway. Main thing is she's healthy :) I am having more scans and appts this time, but still midwife led đź’ś

I find that in any medical setting they take your BP straight after you've been walking and talking, so it's naturally way higher. I've never understood why they don't take BP accurately. xx
