@Fay thank you I’m purely looking for feedback and peoples experiences when they started their babies on solids and if it impacted their reflux. I’m not looking to start solids anytime soon 😊
Starting solids did not help my little girls reflux at all. We started at 5.5 months old due to reflux, cows milk allergy and poor weight gain and she was still being sick. She grew out of it about 6-8 weeks ago and she’s 1 next month x
@Julia thanks Julia Off the topic but How did you establish CMPA? I find it so confusing as symptoms of both silent reflux and CMPA seem so similar. We have been advised by Dr ours “can’t be allergic” because she’s gaining weight fine and has no rash But I’m still not convinced Happy to hear the reflux is has settled I cannot wait for it 🙏🏻x
My LO had really bad reflux especially in the morning (projectile vomit the entire feed) as he had an empty stomach. I started giving a few spoons of solids at 5 months to help line his stomach, and since then I haven’t had the problem.
Our baby has CMPA, it was “suspected” and then very much definitely confirmed when we started weaning.
@Lori She had all the text book symptoms from rash/eczema, constipation to loose nappies with blood and mucus in them, crying during and after bottles, arching her back, unable to calm her down, sick during and after and inbetween of bottles, poor weight gain from the start. Not every baby has these symptoms but reflux isn’t a diagnosis in itself. It’s often comes hand in hand with a cows milk allergy or something else that I can’t remember what it’s called. And we established she had CMPA as soon as she went on neocate after trying sooo many milks x
You should wait til they reach all signs of readiness incident being 6 months +, being able to sit independently for a proper length of time and bringing objects from their hand to their mouth. The 6 months is the most important, so many mums say “oh my baby was watching me eat so they must be ready” FALSE. Your child could happily watch you smoke a joint, doesn’t mean they should have one too. Their digestive systems are not ready prior to 6 months and you could cause life long damage
