Midwife

I’ve got my first midwife appointment tomorrow, I will be 6w+4 What can I expect? Prior to pregnancy I had a massive phobia of hospitals etc 😅

If I remember correctly from my first it’s a booking appointment getting to know each other going through questions and a booklet about yourself and the baby dad, blood tests etc x

It’s just loads of questions about your health and your families, urine sample & blood test are sent off. Weight & height taken. You can discuss any concerns etc

That's quite early for a booking appointment (lucky!) I thought they only happened between 8-10 weeks. I am struggling to get one and I am 8+5.

@Louise oh really! I did think that and I’ve had no previous losses etc. however, I do live in a very rural area so I’m guessing that would be why x

@Louise I also did a self referral so not sure if that made a difference??

@Meg Yeah I self referred over 2 weeks ago and have called to follow up twice, apparently they don't have any available appointments at the moment and are trying to work out how to get me in.

@Louise oh wow really, I would definitely keep chasing and sharing your concerns! Good luck🤞🏼

Had mine today honestly disappointing 😔

@Deedee why was it disappointing? X

I just felt lk we had lotsa concerns n she didnt really seem fazed . My bloods came back n my tsh was high which means im at an increased risk of misscarriage n she wasnt aware so ive asked for my results to take to my doctor to up my meds 🙄

@Deedee maybe ask for a different midwife? X

@Meg i dont even think shes mine on my booking appt it says “generic midwife” 🤣

@Deedee that’s a shame it really is luck of the draw. Mine was lovely but she was covering the midwife I was due to see. You do tend to get the same midwife every appointment so if you’re not a fan ask to change, you can go on a different day or change locations
