I had my gestational diabetes test twice and they both came back negative I then had a growth scan at 32 weeks where he was big and then sent me home with a glucose monitor which then showed I had late onset gestational diabetes!
I had the test done first at 24 weeks which came back negative and then had a growth scan at 32 weeks (due to previous small baby) and baby had grown quite significantly so I had the test done again, but again negative, he was born at 39+1 weighing 8lb2oz
My first pregnancy yes. Both results came back fine. Baby measurements were all normal on the scan.
Don’t forget the scans can be off by 20% so might not be measuring as big as you think and just a computer discrepancy I refused the glucose test and asked to monitor with blood sugar readings for a week instead - it’s far more accurate in my opinion and although a little more work no need for the ridiculous fasting and waiting round the hospital. I do have gestational diabetes though but it’s totally manageable so don’t worry even if you do have it x
No, that doesn’t sound fun 🫠 I wasn’t able to get my gestational diabetes test completed cause I puked after drinking the glucose test..they told be to rebook and I asked if there was another way they could test me, they agreed to doing a single blood test without fasting, I’m not sure what the test was called and I’m still waiting for the results (however this test is definitely less reliable). My friend was tested a different way - she was given something to measure her glucose every day and that’s how they diagnosed her, her readings fluctuated - so sometimes she’d appear to have gestational diabetes and other times she wouldn’t 🤷♀️ It’s all a bit confusing! But I know I wouldn’t be keen to go through fasting and the normal gestational diabetes test again. Fasting as a pregnant woman is brutal.
