I’m terrified of my newborn!!!

My son is now 3 weeks old almost a month and every single sound or movement he makes terrifies me for example he has been having active sleep and im sitting here googling newborn seizures because he’s moving a lot every couple minutes….I’m so scared that I’m gunna do something wrong or miss a warning sign and he ends up in the hospital or something. I’m up every night googling everything about babies like “is this normal, is that normal, warning signs, etc” even though every dr appointment they tell me he’s doing great and is perfectly healthy. And all the warnings online with social media and dr offices talking about SIDS everywhere doesn’t help. I swear I’ve lost so much sleep at night just sitting there staring at him and stressing myself out. The anxiety is too overwhelming. Am I the only one experiencing this? Is it normal? Like why is everything so scary now??

My little girl is now 7 months, my first, and I felt exactly the same at the start. I took her to the GP 3 times I think.. one for her breathing sounding squeaky which was due to her being born quickly and having mucus on her chest - completely normal. One for her belly button going a bit funny and infected - again normal and easily sorted. And another for what I thought was a serious rash and it turned out to be heat rash. Have you spoken to anyone about how you feel i.e. GP or health visitor? No question will be too silly and they would rather you be seen than sit and worry. Maybe they can give you actual things to look out for rather than googling. It’s completely normal to worry about things and it’s all new to us, but don’t let it control you or lose sleep. If your baby is unwell, you will know. In terms of SIDS, just follow all advice to lower the risk which is very low anyway. You’re doing amazing! ❤️

That is completely normal, I can’t tell you the amount of random stuff I’ve googled including poo several times 😅 My girl is 4 months now and I am starting to relax a bit. If you feel like it is taking over a bit then definitely speak to your gp about it. You’ve got this and I’m sure you are doing a fabulous job, it just shows how much you love him ❤️

Why don't you get a breathing monitor for the baby so you can sleep knowing an alarm would go off if there's an issue? I do that and it makes me sleep so easy between her feeds

Girl your anxiety is NORMAL NORMAL NORMAL. I think we all go through it with the first baby. I dont know a way to circumvent it you just have to struggle through it. That first year is rough

I would put a hand on my baby and feel her breathing. That would often help her settle again. Once I felt the rhythmic breathing of sleep I knew she was good. Baby's have dreams too. Usually my touch would be enough to settle them.
