Nope, no food rules here. I make balanced meals of meat, slow digest carbs, veggies, fruits, and healthy fats. Baby can eat whatever of it she wants.
Ours was just milk or water but obviously that changes when they go to playgroups, parties ect. Mines a lot older and even now they don’t drink fizzy. I don’t care about ketchup. If I can get my fussy eater to have a roast dinner with ketchup then it’s a win. I’ve never been rigid with deserts as I grew up with a diabetic mother and food issues as a result. I normally say you have to eat one carrot, one bit of sausage and mash before she can leave the table.
Hmm… I also only give water and milk and don’t give ketchup, etc but I’ve never thought of those as “rules”, really - since it’s us making the food choices, why would we need to set rules for ourselves? Once little one’s old enough to understand I don’t want to be using the concept of “rules” when it comes to food as I think that can create some unhealthy associations re “good” and “bad” foods.
@Sophie maybe rules is too strong, but things that we don’t do or encourage as parents is more like it.
Same as you but like Sophie never thought of it as rules. Occasionally my son will have a chocolate button once a week as a treat but that’s it. Haven’t decided on advent calendar yet. But yes, No juice or fizzy drinks or desserts. Tried him with dips but he didn’t want any 🤷♀️
Don’t allow any excess sugar or salt, no juice. Only plain unflavoured milk & water. Must have atleast 1 thing from these food groups per day - fruit, veg, dairy, protein (meat or plant based), carbs. We don’t offer pudding after dinner x
