@Ella oh yeah, chocolate is not even something that is needed for a child. Don’t know why parents rush giving chocolate. I just know with water, kids can get bored of it and end up not being hydrated, so ofc wondering if flavoured water or watered down juice can be alternatives, for over 1 ofc
No, stick to water if they drink water. My nephew refuses to drink water, only juice. At least my kids drink water well and only have juice once a day
Very watered down juice around age 1.5-2 years I think as she was ill once and wouldn't drink water it was the only way I could keep her hydrated, she's 3 now and loves just plain water she still has juice here and there but she prefers water
My 22 month old has never had juice and we don’t plan to give it to her. She will have a smoothie with us when we have one but never juice. Our pediatrician said that juice is not a good option for kids so there’s no reason to give it. My daughter does great drinking water
We've had loads of smoothies, usually watered down. She mainly drinks water, but for when we go out its nice for her to have a drink with us, especially as we could never get a moment to just sit in a cafe otherwise. She was never interested until about 18months, shes 2 now. She has a smoothie maybe once a week. I'm pretty laid back and she also sometimes has chocolate or hot chocolate or ice cream, but very rarely and never after dinner so she still sleeps 😅 I try to keep things balanced
my bf started giving our daughter watered down juice at around 1.5, but i think it’s unnecessary so i never offer it
the grands have started giving it to him watered down (despite my protests). i only offer water or milk at 14mo. pedialyte if he’s sick.
@Ella agree, same, he's had juice for last year and half, better than dehydration, he loves drinking so much more since I used jucie diluted and squash
We did severely watered down apple juice around 12-18 months. I can’t remember exactly. That said, we also have added fruit to our oldests water (blueberries, strawberries, mint). Etc. We also gave juice to help our kids go to the bathroom a little bit easier if they were having issues. Our oldest is almost 3 (on the 21st) and has only just gotten chocolate (advent calendar, yay….). And our youngest (14 months) hasn’t even tried it yet, as there’s no point. I mostly try to make smoothies, which often has a little bit of orange juice. But that’s it. Also, everything in moderation, I personally feel is fine. It’s all about the moderation. I want my kids to have a healthy relationship with food. Which I didn’t have growing up.
Probably watered down after 1, and full strength after 2. My kids have food allergies and are inclined to constipation. Juice helps keep them regular. Juice isn't as bad for them as say chocolate biscuits which loads of people give their 1-2yo.
