Does anyone else get paranoid that their LO might have an infection despite being on the low dose antibiotics?

My LO has wet themselves today, and being more ‘wriggly’ than usual. Also feel like I’m just job stop smelling his nappies and the smell isn’t quite like what it was when he’s had an infection so not sure if I’m overthinking it! Baby is 4 months old. Thoughts everyone please?

Yea, I’m super paranoid 😅 She’s yet to have another infection since starting trimethoprim (16ish months ago), but I worry constantly. So maybe I’m crazy but I bought UTI testing strips off Amazon. It’s like £6 for 100 strips. I don’t really know what I’m looking at, but every time I’ve tested, it matches exactly with the normal range example and I can stop worrying!

@Rhiannon I have these but was advised not to use them for this purpose, but maybe I should! Been docs today and sipped his urine and said all clear, but I rather wait to get the lab results as the signs I’m seeing is making me really anxious! Bless, 16 months is such a long times . how’s your bubba doing? If you don’t mind me asking, what tests have been done on your LO? With mine it was an ultrasound a couple months ago and then low dose antibiotics until another ultrasound in 3 months time. I’m worried they’ll be doing further invasive tests to see what else could be going on. It’s just so scary with them being so little having to go through this

I don’t see why not… if anything doesn’t look exactly right or there are any other symptoms, then I’d take her to get properly checked. I use the strips when I’m 99.9% sure I’m being paranoid but I need confirmation 😅 She had the ultrasound, then about a month later an MCUG - that’s with a catheter which inserts liquid into bladder to check the reflux, it was very uncomfortable for her, and she didn’t want to wee which is the whole point of the test 😅 but it’s not too invasive really. Then a few months after that a DMSA, an isotope is injected via a cannula in the hand/foot, then they do imaging a few hours later. She’s booked for surgery next week, that will be invasive and I’m trying not to think about it. It’s so scary. She’s big and healthy now, you’d never know she had anything wrong or that she’d been so sick as a wee one! She has lv 4 reflux tho so deemed very severe, hopefully your little one won’t need it!! And I hope the lab results give him the all clear ♥️

@Rhiannon oh hun, you and your LO have been through so much! Bless you guys. Wishing her all the best for surgery, I hope all goes well and the recovery is super speedy! Such a little warrior. You’re doing amazing momma! Thanks for your responses. Take care lovely, all the best! X
