Grocery shopping 🛒

Does anyone have any tricks to cut down on the grocery shopping budget? I spend around $250 a week but I feel like I’m not even getting much stuff. I normally plan our weekly dinners around what meat ect is on special, my son does eat lots of fruit so that adds up a bit, but we don’t normally buy junk food and I make lots of snacks from home ( sausage rolls, pizza wheels, muffins ect) 😅 does anyone have any tips of how you don’t spend heaps each week on groceries, there’s 3 of us (one being a toddler) 🥰

We are at that too for 2 adults and a toddler. I also plan our weekly meals out. I can’t really help, beyond some meat free days using lentils or other vegetarian items and buying home brand where possible. Unfortunately my partner won’t eat vegetarian but I had been doing it for my lunches. Chloeevegan on instagram has a series called two cheap where each serve is $2. But they are vegan meals.

I feel like its not really possible to spend less than that these days unless you go to Aldi

We buy nearly all of our meat at Aldi and the saving is phenomenal

We are the same family size and it costs about that for us a week as well. I always use a list. I shop at Aldi first and then go to Woolies for the rest. We’ve reduced our meat intake too. I do agree - I don’t think you can have a varied diet of home cooked meals for less than that anymore 😣

Def ALDI

Yes I'd say Aldi for most things. Also check out Coles 1/2 price specials each week (change each Tuesday night) as those are cheaper than Aldi. Also cooking things in bulk like Bolognaise, stew. I make a great lamb stew using a roast leg of lamb that seems to stretch for ages.

Lots of good suggestions here, I also encourage a shopping list. I find also buying things that are in season and also replenishing stock when things are on special, sometimes buying in bulk will also work in your favour if you have room to store things. There’s also ShopBack

Unfortunately we don’t have Aldi near us. But I use different rewards cards and points towards Coles or Woolworths, plan ahead with sales (buying the biggest bag of rice when half price etc) and also using the app Half Price which shows you what’s half price each week at Coles and Woolies.
