I'm surprised they've referred you back to gynae tbh. I had 2nd and 3rd degree tears with my 4th and they're not doing anything about it and refused to stitch me back together after being discharged when my stitches dissolved too fast! They'll examine you and depending on where the tear was they may check with a speculum too to make sure everything inside is okay and then tell you what the next steps are if there's any needed and ask if you've had any problems since birth or incontinence etc you may need surgery to correct things, you may not need anything it's hard to say until they've seen you x

I’m also surprised that I had an appointment too. When I had my stitch’s they said that the midwife’s would have a look at them during the home visits. Its been 12 weeks from giving birth and hadn’t heard of anything so I didn’t think I would be seen again

I had a 3rd degree c tear and had my gynae appt on Friday, they do an ultrasound of your back passage to check your healed properly and can have a vaginal delivery if you wish to have children in the future x

They won’t have a look unless you’re really concerned. They’ll just ask how you’re feeling etc and how do you feel down there x

@Sam I reckon different areas do it differently as when I had mine appt they did it anyway, I also had a physio appt as well, not sure if that was because a was a 3rd degree c tear or because it was my first, I just assumed everywhere did the same thing xx
