Appetite loss at 18 months

Since my girl turned 18 months old, she just refuses to eat anything, i tried lot of variations in food and smoothies, but she just takes a bite or two and starts to throw. I am worried at this point and frustrated too! She is teething right now and I see her getting frustrated, cranky, screaming all the time, all those toddler tantrums plus food rejection - I am overwhelmed, worried and don’t know how to feed her and ensure she’s getting her nutrients. Any suggestions? Thank you!

I am going through the same and I was reading in another June babies group that it's normal at this age for them to reduce their food intake as their growth slows down. Just offer her but don't force feed. I do the same

@Kavita thank you! I get anxious when she hardly eats anything and relies just on milk and water. Crazy how growing up affects their appetite! :’)

I am in the same boat. My daughter still wakes up for milk in the night and I feel bad as she doesn't eat well. Frankly, I am just going with the flow and trying not to be harsh on myself as they are big enough to understand how much they want to eat and when they don't want to. Mine has become an extremely picky eater and just eats everything carbs with no veggies at all. I am trying my best but there are few things beyond our control

@Kavita Sameee! Mine is extremely picky eater too and hates veggies and now even stopped eating fruits but just carbs. Fiber intake is very low snd wakes up multiple times at night for milk, I feel exhausted but I figured that the only way is to keep going with the flow (anxiously)

I feel you, Mumma ❤️ Sending hugs and hoping that this phase passes by soon for both of us 🤞🏻

Give your baby some grace! It's completely normal for appetite to decrease whilst teething. If there is one thing that all humans have built in mechanism since birth (and even in the womb) then that is to feel hunger. No, your child will not starve to death ( although it may feel like it). They are way smarter than you think. My 4 year old is currently going through a similar phase and she's pretty much surviving on chips and yogurt lol That being said, it is a phase which will end soon. As a parent it's our job to offer our children food...and it's our child's responsibility whether they want to eat it or not
