The plus side of telling her early is that sheāll be in the know when you might need some help with nausea/sickness symptoms in the first trimester!
My first baby we told family straight away and friends after a private 7 week scan. This time we are telling family after the 12 week scan and no one else unless we see them face to face... Theres pros and cons to both ways of doing it but i will admit im excited to have less opinions this time xx
@Claire great advice thank you! I think Iāll leave it a day or two just let ourselves let it sink in! But Iām very excited to tell them! And well they live 3 hours away! So they canāt just pop in or anything itāll be a phone call every day hahaha! But thatās better than not at all! ā¤ļø MIL for me will be a whole different bucket of laughs. Sheās very strictly religious and I couldnāt be more the opposite! So thatāll be another battle xx
@India yeah I think Iāll leave it a few days and then re evaluate how I feel! Thanks for replying I really appreciate your opinion!! Xx

I had this dilemma over Christmas. Found out the weekend before Christmas I was pregnant and initially we were going to keep it from everyone, but my MIL was supposed to be booking a family holiday to America at the end of July - and flying transatlantic 8 months pregnant probably isnāt the best. So we told the whole family at Christmas as we didnāt want to leave anyone out. My mum and my family were super excited but my MIL actually went really quiet and hasnāt spoken about it since. Itās put me in a whole anxiety spiral and I actually wish we left it a bit longer to tell them. Iām not sure if sheās trying to suppress the excitement until 12 weeks as weāve had a miscarriage before In terms of her controlling-ness, your mum is just going to be so excited and of course sheās going to want to help her own baby through this. Ask her for advice when you want it, but make sure to tell her youāre excited to figure some of this out on your own/with partner etc.
