8 weeks left!

Hey everyone I will be 32 weeks on Monday! Im so ready for baby girl to be here and so excited to be doing a home water birth. Seeing as this is my first baby as well as the home birth I don’t really know what all to get supplies wise or how to prepare. My midwife has a list of some things to get for the birth but I was just wondering if any of you had any extra things that would beneficial to have/ do either for labor itself or for preparing for labor? TIA!!!💕

I used a comb in my hand and my doula did hip and back squeezing. Those helped tremendously

I used a ball, which I found quite helpful. Have sweets and snacks on hand too. I didn't have any of mine but I know it's helpful. A water bottle with straw Tens machine Stuff to make your birth space cosy and soft All the other bits are the usual recommendations :) Good luck. It's a fabulous experience however it pans out x

I imagine you're already doing this but read plenty of positive homebirth stories- the first section of Ina Mays Guide to Childbirth is great and will really get you in the homebirth mood 😁 A really good playlist of all the music you love, get that oxytocin flowin! I got a load of fake candles for my last home birth, the midwives can get funny about real ones if you chose to have gas and air it can't be in the same room. I didn't use the fake candles in the end but intend to for my next birth coming up in April! This last one definitely isn't compulsory but some snacks for your partner and the midwives, it can be a lengthy process and it'll keep the moral and energy high. Also also, don't be afraid to ask for quiet, space and for midwives to leave the room while you labour, me and my partner did and we spent a lot of the labour just chilling together (me bouncing on my ball) and getting in the zone! Good luck with everything and congratulations on your baby girl xxx

Tens machine, ball, playlist of all the songs that make you feel good, do some hypno birthing. My midwife encouraged me to drink lucozade sport drinks (not sugar free ones) throughout labour and then also a whole one quickly after giving birth, it helped me not get the shock shakes after and kept my energy up. Great tip! I had mine 8 weeks ago and was incredible, I wish everyone had the same experience.
