Didn’t get the no pâté memo🫣

I’ve only just found out you aren’t meant to have pâté when pregnant, but I ate it on Christmas Day as my starter! Baby has been normal since in terms of movements.. should I seek advice or speak to my midwife? What can pâté cause?

It’s risk of the bacteria that can be found in pate that could cause an infection, as a one off I think it’ll be fine. Obviously if you start feeling unwell, or notices any changes in movement then seek advice. But I doubt they would do anything unless you actually shown signs of an infection

One off is fine - its more to do with the amount if vitamin A but in any case these things are bigger risks in earlier pregnancy. A one off is fine though, I did the same xx

As a one off like above have said it isn’t a big deal, if you start feeling unwell or showing signs of infection I’d call for advice. I ate cold deli meats like pepperoni etc and had a soft whip ice cream until I realised I couldn’t because of the risk of listeria thankfully nothing bad happened and I just avoid them now x

Definitely no reason for panic. It’s more of a guidance not to have it because of the higher levels of vitamin a and potential risk of listeria. But it’s risk of and the risk is pretty low for listeria and would affect anyone eating if present but when pregnant it’s more risky if contracted but given it’s been a few days that won’t be an issue. And as for the higher levels of vitamin a, as a one off there is no concern. It’s the same for things like uncooked soft cheese and raw fish etc. these are advised against because of the increase risk of bacteria but not actually a given. Just if it was present you wouldn’t want to take the risk ideally. Whereas things like smoking/alcohol are different as advised against because they are linked to poorer outcomes for baby.
