@Emma yes I know that. I just haven’t seen my baby in an ultrasound in a month so I didn’t know if the NIPT test coming back normal meant the baby was good.
The NIPT doesn’t check anything else. It’s so hard but for my first I found trusting my body helped the most to know baby was ok. The only way you will know for sure is to get checked by your OB. It’s just super hard when there’s so few ultrasound appointments.
For myself I don't get any ultrasounds till the 20 week anatomy scan that's when baby will be able to be determined as healthy or cause for concern when baby is born, the NIPT testing can help to prepare you for the syndromes after baby is born, with your results coming back normal it means that the baby doesn't have any genetic markers for the syndromes and further testing won't be necessary.
@Emma yeah that’s what I’ve been trying to do. I have some cramping and a lot of discomfort but everything else seems fine. It’s really hard to not worry though. It’s like my anxiety magnified..
@Gavinga wow! 20 weeks?? Why so long if you don’t mind me asking.. my doctor wanted to see me at 10 weeks.
My first pregnancy, I wasnt seen till 16½ weeks and that was just a hi I'm your OB and using a dopler, this time around I'll be seen at 13½ weeks. Last time they only did the 20 week anatomy scan and a 39 week growth scan.
NIPT screens for Down syndrome, Edwards syndrome, Patau syndrome, trisomy 21, trisomy 18, trisomy 13, triploidy, monosomy X (Turner syndrome), sex chromosome trisomies, and microdeletions. A normal result means you low risk of any of these.
