Body conscious

Hi all. How are those who are pregnant handling their changing bodies? I’m really struggling to accept myself getting bigger EVERYWHERE. I was already curvy but now it feels so noticeable as I can’t control it. Currently 18 weeks and although I’m exercising, eating as well as I can, I don’t feel very body positive. Any advice on how people have navigated this or their own experiences would be appreciated!

When I was pregnant I gained 50 pounds and I felt bad but all that is temporary in 2 months postpartum already lost more than 30 pounds so dont worry to much

I'm not handling it well. I've got PGP so finding it really hard to do much exercise and just generally unhappy with the way I look (I was also curvy). I spend most of my time thinking of all of the exercise I'm going to do when pregnancy is over!

@Sally This is EXACTLY how I feel. It’s so difficult isn’t it!

When I was pregnant I gained 100 pounds and felt so ugly. I used to love fitness, but when I was pregnant I was sick ALL the time so I couldn't exercise at all and I could only eat carbs instead of eating healthy like I normally would. I know it's hard to believe, but it is temporary. I'm 5 months post partum and have lost about half the weight. I do plan to start exercising again with the new year, and I try to eat healthy (as much as I can given the time constraints of working and caring for a young baby). The weight may not fall off right after having the baby, and you may have to put in some work (like me), but you are not doomed to carry around that pregnancy weight forever

I’m not managing it well at all. Pre-pregnancy 117lbs to my current 210lbs almost 13 months PP makes me want to hide at home forever and smash all of my mirrors. I feel so unsexy in this body. But, I have fibromyalgia and have so little energy, so I don’t work out the way I did my first pregnancy. I’m changing my diet to keto this week, and that’s the best I manage for now.

Did you get some maternity clothes yet? If not I’d definitely get some. It helped me a lot because not only are they more comfortable they’re more flattering and then also when going out you can be thinking you’re showing off your bump proudly rather than worrying about looking larger and people not knowing your pregnant. At least that’s how it worked in my mind! I was already pretty big before I got pregnant but now the bump is bumping I just focus on that. I didn’t have a tonne of money to spend so I got some bits off Shein. Obvs they aren’t the best clothes in the world but they get the job done lol
