Yeah they can check for it at any time. I know someone who got diagnosed around 12 weeks too x
They make redo it if baby measured overall big or glucose in wee! Diet wouldn’t make you suddenly have glucose in wee, just if your body isn’t processing and breaking down sugar! I had 31 weeks diagnosis first pregnancy after passing my glucose test. I didn’t believe I had it at first as was only borderline and ended up on 1000mg of metformin 3 x a day
@Em really? My good friend is a midwife and she said it's super normal for patients to have sugary urine test if they ate something sugary the night before even. And I had half a tin of biscuits, half a big chocolate bar the night before and pie and chips about five mins before the test so it seems plausible (I wouldn't normally eat like that, just cos of Christmas!). I'm happy they are re-doing the test, I was just thinking is it that accurate at 34 weeks 🤔. My sister had a similar thing and they said there's no point doing the test again at that late gestation so they just ordered her the finger prick thing to monitor her results over a week, and sort of said just assume you do have it and control your diet. But I guess I'll just see what the test results are and go from there 🥲. Thanks ladies x
I have done multiple dip stick tests at home and I have had some where it says I have glucose in urine after eating quite a few sweets that day! But other than that I have no glucose in my wee. Also I never had glucose in my wee at all before getting diagnosed with GD. Only got sent for a test because baby was messuring bigger and i only got a scan because of two episodes of reduced movements so they wanted to make sure baby was OK.
@Alina oh really? How did you get the tests at home? I sort of wish she'd just sent me to get the urine test redone first, but anyway I'll just have to see what happens with this test!
I ordered some on amazon!
I'm no expert but I am sure you can refuse things if you don't want to. They dont tell you this but you can refuse and ask for the urine to be retested again! If it comes back the same then agree to the test x
First pregnancy I was diagnosed only at 32 weeks for the first time. I was diet controlled but had some spikes after eating normal things so I imagine if it wasn't accurate, it wouldn't have spiked. It can develop anytime in pregnancy! Good luck! x
