But of course the induction progress itself could be long they said
@Izzy do they let your partner stay cus on the leaflet they handed me is says that there not aloud to stay overnight and I'm quite anxious
Mine stayed every night until about 1 then he went home to get sleep. They seemed fine with birth partners staying that’s in my case anyway they just kept saying he will need to sleep on the chair and can’t have a bed
They are funny about other people coming out of visiting hours who are not your birth partner
Visiting was 4-6
They fully knew I needed my partner
I was induced in April. Ignore all the negative induction stories. You have got this. I’d try do some hypnobirthing if you haven’t already. I’d deffo take headphones for swan wars
I had an induction ar Warwick in August 2023 so it might have changed in the meantime but we started the induction on Tuesday morning and have been in Swan word until Wednesday 5pm (when they moved me in the labour ward). Everyone there was so nice, they told me that they’ve recently changed their policy and they now allow partners to spend the night with patients on the induction ward so my husband was with me there every second from admission to discharge.
Regarding the induction I would say I had a great experience. They’ve started with the pessary (had 2 of them), was then moved into the labour ward as I was 5cm dilated and they broke my water. As it wasn’t progressing much they’ve put me on oxytocin for a couple of hours and that worked. I got admitted on Tuesday 10am, moved into the labour room on Wednesday 5pm and gave birth naturally (luckily I didn’t need a forceps) on Thursday 6am. I know it sounds like a long time but they do say induction take time, especially the first day, I was having contractions but they weren’t strong or regular that’s why they broke the waters and moved me on oxytocin but I’ve heard stories with only the pessary working so don’t worry to much about that. Every single person I came across was so nice - I even had one of the nurses from Swan ward coming into my room as I was giving birth to hold my hand before she was finishing her shift 😭♥️
I got home from my C-section on the swan ward on Sunday after 4 days in I also stayed in when my waters went at 34 weeks. My experience was lovely the midwife’s are lovely they are busy so you will need to use your call button if you need them. They helped me so much with feeding and my boy was jaundice that was picked up straight away and the infant feeding time are amazing who fine if you are struggling I didn’t have an induction but I know many people who did at swan ward they said the ward was lovely
