Gestational diabetes

I’m having my glucose tolerance test soon and I’m so nervous about testing positive for gestational diabetes. Did anyone have any symptoms? What was everyone’s experience with this? So nervous.

Hey, I was diagnosed in my last pregnancy, I didn’t have any symptoms really, I was just over the limit at my test. I had a test at 16 weeks this time and have another one on Friday so I feel your nerves! Do you have any symptoms or are you just generally worried? If you do get a positive I promise it’s all ok, it’s pretty overwhelming and I was quite upset but i mostly managed with diet and although it’s another thing to think about, your baby will be absolutely fine. Message me if you want to ask anything and good luck for the test (it’s not much fun but doable!) x

Hey- I have no symptoms other than being an overthinker! It’s the unknown of how to manage it with diet etc and the worries about baby. Also think I’m scared of having a negative relationship with food and becoming stressed! Thanks I really appreciate it! I hope all goes okay for you on Friday x

I had it with my first pregnancy and have it now again. It’s alright! Nothing to worry about. You just need to watch some food here and there but it’s not hard. I am on the highest end of it I take two types of insulin and metformin. I have no symptoms and the treatment it’s easy. 😘

@Denise aw that’s reassuring thank you 🥰

Totally with you on the overthinking and even the test is a slog when you’re dealing with everything else pregnancy is chucking at you. If you get a positive result everything will Be explained to you about diet and there are great resources out there to help you. It feels about a million years without cake but it’s not that long and will go quickly. Main risk to the baby is being big (I feel like we are all told our baby is one size and comes out totally different anyway!) and if you’re diagnosed and managing it, nothing bad will happen to the baby. Mine was born perfect size and I don’t know what all the fuss was about! 🤣 I also have had a lifelong crap relationship with food and I get that the idea of having to restrict yourself is pretty triggering. Again let me know if you are positive and want to chat but promise you’ll be grand, not long now! X

I had the test on Friday! Really wasn’t as bad having it done as I was expecting! The drink tasted like a orange capri sun! Try not to worry, I was so worried and comparing myself to symptoms and I don’t have it! Wishing you a healthy, smooth pregnancy 🤍

@Rachel thank you so much I really appreciate it. Hoping all goes well but I know I can deal with whatever life throws at me! Hope all is going well with you! Xx

@Sophia that’s great news! Wishing you a healthy pregnancy. Thank you🥰
