Baby names with one syllable

Hi all, Baby boy due in 6 weeks and struggling to agree on a name! Me and my husband’s favourite two names for first and middle name are ‘Finn Rhys’ our last name starts with an M and finishes with a S but has two syllables. We can’t find any other names we like as much as we feel more set on just Finn than Finley for example, but I’m concerned it sounds too choppy having two one syllable names - what do you think? Thank you!

You’re overthinking it! If you like the name Finn then go for it, you’ll barely ever hear the full name anyway ☺️

@Julia agree!

I think it sounds nice. But if you're worried, could you go with Finley Rhys on the birth certificate but use the "nickname" Finn in day to day. Then as he gets older, he'll have a bit more choice / flexibility 😊

Thank you @Jenna. I’ve considered that but my husband isn’t keen on the name Finley. He suggested Finnan as a compromise but not sure that’s an actual name and whether we’re best just sticking with Finn! 🤔

I think just stick with Finn Rhys but you could do Finn Rhysand.

Finn Rhys sounds slightly choppy when you say both names together but both names are lovely and i doubt you'll be saying both his first and middle name that often! if Finn is the name you love, I would go with it. 💙 Finnian is a genuine Irish name! other names that could work with Finn as a nickname: Griffin, Finbar Fintan, Finnegan, Findlay/Finlay, Finnick, Seraphin/Serafin or Phineas/Finneas. 💙

One thing that I was told is you gotta test the name.. say it out loud and with different emotions. For example anger lol cuz one day he'll act up and you'll have to yell out his name in anger, if it works, go for it imo lol
