My baby girl is a week old today. I conceived using a donor so I am a single mum. My mum has been amazing helping out as I had a C-section but it’s my first night alone with her. I’m feeling very overwhelmed, I’m exhausted as she won’t sleep not on me and the blues have hit. It has been my dream to become a mother which is why I used a donor to have her, but I definitely underestimated how difficult it would be. If any has any tips for getting baby to sleep in her crib next to me I would be grateful!
Shame we live so far away from each other @Leah I’m due any day now with my donor-conceived little boy. Hope the sleep deprivation eases up for you, I’ll be in the same boat soon too I imagine!
Had our baby boy on Saturday 4th and I am completely in love. I haven’t found it overwhelming to date with feeding and lack of sleep etc but I do feel anxious around his health where it’s so cold x

It's a massive adjustment, isn't it! I'm actually not quite as overwhelmed this time because it's my second child, but it's still massive. It's so much to take in (even if we feel over the moon!) and adapt to, plus we are naturally hyper vigilant as mothers during this stage which can increase anxiety in a sort of constant way. Even though it's my second I've got a few mum friends from the first time around checking in with me, simply because we all know just how tough it is! Taking things a day at a time and being very kind to ourselves, allowing ourselves rest and just the space and time is so key! ❤️❤️❤️
