Is a sweep even worth it?

Some say it works to get things going, some think it’s risky to introduce bacteria, some say it took a long while before they had contractions… I’m weighing things up at the moment. I mean I think I’d like to wait without a sweep but then again I don’t want to go beyond 41 weeks which may happen.

I went for a sweep and it didn’t work, was due for another but ended up going in to be induced (which also didn’t work), ended up a ecsec, I wish I’d said no and let things progress naturally xx

I had two, and they both did not work and I delivered my son at 40 weeks and + 1 day.

For me personally the indignity of a sweep is not worth it especially when it hardly ever works. You can get the same if not better oxytocin release affect from things like sex or anything else you enjoy.

@Ames I had two sweeps and both did not work, had sex the day after my due date and my son came that same day.

I was 40+8 and had a sweep at 5pm. Was 1cm dilated so she could do it and by 12am I was 4cm disabled and had to have my waters burst. Baby was here at 5:45am. It didn’t work for everyone. I didn’t find it too uncomfortable and they give you gas and air. For me it was very sick and relatively painfree, just uncomfortable more than anything. Sex was off the cards for new and my partner, we both felt uncomfortable doing anything with her so big in my stomach and if she moved I think I would have freaked out 😅
