Preferring food over bottles

My baby has declined all bottles since his last at 11.20am today but has eaten his breakfast/a puree/a rice pudding/yoghurt. Should I be worried? I've given him food as I'm worried about him having nothing all day and he's been accepting that/seemingly enjoying that fine, it's just the bottles he's been declining. We think he might have developed a bit of a feeding aversion for his bottles from what we suspect mugh be silent reflux (we now have gavisgon prescribed to add to them but he's still intermittently declining). Is anyone else's baby doing the same, preferring food over bottles? I know milk is meant to be their main source of nutrition until 1 so a little worried.

I just thought that actually means my baby has had no fluids since that time so now I'm worried re dehydration 😩

It’s recommended that if they start to prefer solids to cut down on their solid intake and focus more on milk. If his soft spots aren’t sunken he shouldn’t be dehydrated, just keep offering water with food. Maybe you could speak to your health visitor if you’re worried for advice? Sorry if this isn’t much help 😅

Are you mixing any of his food with milk? You could mix rice pudding with his milk to give him some intake but I’d speak to the health visitor feeding team for support and advice and maybe cut down on the food and offer more milk again x

Personally I would cut down the food so he's more hungry for milk. Weaning to solids is to get them used to using their chewing muscles and hand eye co ordination, not to necessarily feed. Try not to worry about feeding baby too much solids as milk is there main source of nutrients until they are a year old 😀
