Teething and food refusal

Pretty sure my little guy is teething, though I can’t see anything yet. He’s been refusing all solid food the last few days when he normally eats everything. Literally has one spoonful then starts blowing raspberries at me and clamps his mouth shut. Also drinking bare minimum milk, we were down to 3 bottles anyway but he’s not even drinking full bottles. Anyone else?

My little one does this, so we usually just give him soups with some toast and that will be the only thing he eats! He’s breastfed and I find he starts biting a lot and it takes a lot of effort to actually try and feed him, so his milk intake definitely reduces as well. It usually only lasts about a week for us though, and we just make sure to give him some pain relief throughout the day too!

@Alice thanks, will try some soup or veggie purée with him. Poor bubs really not happy, I’m giving pain relief but nothing seems to be working x

One of my twins couldn’t care less about teething (has five teeth now) and the other who has no teeth but has started teething cannot bare it; she is the same and doesn’t eat very much at all, otherwise a bottomless pit and eats a lot. I just offer her extra milk and she is definitely more willing with cold foods.

@Natalie it didn’t bother my first either, barely knew she was teething, they just appeared x

@Shenel oh bless, it’s so awful isn’t it. We alternate between calpol and nurofen so that he’s always covered by something. We also freeze some spring onions, let them sit for about 10 mins outside the freezer once frozen and then let him chew on them. The cold helps soothe, and spring onion has natural anti inflammatory properties! A dental nurse told me about it a few years ago, and I thought it was a load of rubbish but it really worked with my little boy! Xx

@Alice how funny, will have to try the spring onion. I tried soup and 4 month purée today today and he wasn’t interested. Seems to like some hard things though so he’s had a little bit of a rusk and some watermelon, gore made when a spoon gets near him though x
