Hi! We moved to oxfordshire with the military. We live in Didcot and we like the area! Quick drive into Oxford or the option of busses and trains, alternatively a short commute into London. Supermarkets & highstreet shops available in Didcot so you don’t need to drive far unless you want something specifically further afield. Lots of greenery nearby with lovely walks up to the white horse and millets farm. Theres tonnes of baby/toddler groups here too. Happy for you to message me if you have any specific questions ☺️ The downside would be GP surgery and schools are at bursting point. That being said, we had a short wait on the waiting list for both school and GP.
Bicester has lots to offer. Shops, restaurants, cinema, trampoline park, two train stations with links to Oxford and London and baby/toddler groups. Oxford is about a 30 minute drive depending on traffic! Witney is a lovely market town too, although I have not lived there myself, I work for a letting agent with an office there 😊
Feel free to message me directly if you like x

Thank you ladies! I appreciate your suggestions and will look into all the places you’ve mentioned 🥰
I live in Witney, I don’t think it’s snobby ☺️
@Laura if you don’t know anyone let me know? I moved in 2023 when I was early in pregnancy and now have a 6 month old and a 6 year old and still don’t know anyone really. We could get together for coffee or a play date etc x
@Chloe i'l message you now 😊
I feel like Witney is actually very popular for young family because housing is a bit more affordable than Oxford. On paper the drive into Oxford is very easy but mornings and afternoon work traffic is absolutely horrendous so it can take around an hour/lots of petrol. So I wouldn’t move to Witney if I had to commute to an office in Oxford. Witney is also not far from Cotswolds which is lowly for nature and walks. In Oxford good areas for families in my opinion are between Florence Park and Magdalen Road in East Oxford, Headington or Summertown.
We've lived in Thame for over 5 years now. I'm 30, myself and husband have a toddler and second due in less than a month. We love it here. Great town, lots of cafes and pubs, good nurseries/schools, good community areas too xx Also lots of baby / toddler groups and different activities every week for baby and toddlers. Lots of choice. Red kite centre which is a free family centre - they're great!
I live in a village called Oakley which is technically bucks but it’s on the Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire border and all our closest amenities are in Oxfordshire. It’s a lovely little village with a preschool and school, weekly toddler group, shop and pub. 25min drive to Oxford and 15min drive to Bicester or Thame which all have lots to offer
We are moving to Witney next week from Bedfordshire. We are in our early 30's too with a toddler and another one due in Feb. We have loved the area when visiting and have never found it snobby, think it seems really family friendly and lots to do with oxford only being 30 mins away too. We can't wait! X
